Wood super infrastructure entities support 1.5 million households – Mortgage Strategy

Becky Wood has been appointed head of the Super Infrastructure Agency, which will provide new paths, schools and hospitals to support the government’s goal of building 1.5 million homes over the next five years.
Wood will become CEO of the new National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Bureau, which was formed earlier this month.
The agency is the result of the merger of the National Infrastructure Commission with the Infrastructure and Infrastructure and Projects Administration to deliver large projects at a speed.
The Treasury said the new agency “will help overcome barriers to infrastructure delivery in the UK and provide expertise on private finance and the implementation of a 10-year infrastructure strategy”.
Wood is currently a partner with EY Consulting and was previously a business consultant to the Infrastructure and Project Management Bureau.
Prior to that, at the Ministry of Transport, she served as a senior responsible officer for Crossrail, Thameslink and InterCity Express programs.
She also oversees major public and private sector projects in Australia and New Zealand.
Wood served as her new post in June.
“She brings a wealth of experience overseeing some of the world’s largest transportation projects over the past decade,” said Darren Jones, chief secretary of the Treasury.
Woods added: “It is an honor to be appointed to have a role that is crucial to the daily life of the people of the UK as a whole, ensuring strong delivery of infrastructure and achieving growth.”
