- woman – I finished this book last fall and it moved me deeply. It helped me get involved in the pain and trauma that many people have experienced and feel how they feel. It gave me a deeper understanding of the Vietnam War. It makes me cry partly when I think of the heartbreak that many people have experienced, and how easy it is to turn to try something that is numb and painful…and then, how that takes you on a path you never thought of.
- Nothing wasted – This is one of my favorite readings of 2024! For me, one of the most influential parts of the book is that Davey shares the pain that makes him unimaginable and the sympathy that intervenes in their stories, which changes his view of grace and redemption. His insights are a powerful reminder of God’s ability to bring beauty from the ashes and reshape our understanding of pain and resilience!
- Slow productivity – Last year I read this book and slowly tasted it (this title alone makes sure not to fly over it!), and it resonated with me in my depths. I will consider these suggestions in the coming years. Having challenged the way I rethink my days and weeks (especially given that one of the important premises of this book is to do less!), it also really made me think of the best way to build our business and systems.
- Only beauty – This is a heartbreaking and heart-warming life story that people think is not worthy of sympathy and value. I think there is one of the rape scenes that are deeper than needed, but overall it is clean and it opens my eyes to a part of history I don’t know. If you are looking for a good novel to read, I will definitely recommend it.
- Unplugged hours – This is one of the books that may challenge and stick to it for a long time. This is one of two books that inspired my 2025 words (more in a few days!). I especially like how this book is inspiring and feasible, not introvert or legal! It makes you want to unplug more because of how it will enrich your life and relationships, rather than because you feel like you have to or should or all the technology is not good.
- Hope of heaven – I finished this book in December and highly recommend it, especially if your heart feels tired and heavy and you can use hope.
