New York court reinstates Suffolk County Water Authority carpal tunnel claim

Frank McGann retired in May 2021 after 32 years with the authority as a senior meter reader. After leaving, he reported intermittent tingling and pain in his hands and wrists, which had worsened over the past two years, and was diagnosed with bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome. His doctor, Dr. Harold Avila, said the condition was related to his job. The employer’s orthopedic consultant, Dr. Steven Goodman, initially disagreed but changed his mind after reviewing other records, including the electromyogram results, and re-examining McGann.
