Colorado proposes $100 million in loans to protect health insurance as ACA subsidies expire

According to the report, the money will support the state’s reinsurance program, paying directly to carriers to offset losses from federal tax credits and other programs under Colorado’s health insurance affordable business. The business was founded in 2020 and is funded by federal funds and insurance company fees. It runs a reinsurance program, exchange subsidies and Omnisalud, which helps low-income residents not qualify for federal credit or state insurance.
