Allstate and NACDA unveil the first ever Fall Good Engineering Team nomination

Northbrook, Illinois, August 5, 2025 – Allstate and National University Athletics Director (NACDA) today announced that 128 student-athlete nominees (Autumn) from the inaugural Allstate Allstate NACDA Good Works team (Autumn) recognize that across all departments and sports they have surpassed their commitment to community service, academic achievement and athletic performance and beyond their commitment.
“These student-athletes represent strengthening leadership in the nation’s community and demonstrate that purpose and impact are closely related to the sports of excellence,” said Elizabeth Brady, Chief Marketing, Customer and Communications Officer, Allstate.
Meet the nominee
The 2025 Allstate NACDA Good Works Team (Autumn) nominee represents seven college sports including football, volleyball, cross country, hockey and water polo. Nominees and their main reasons for community services include:
- Scotty Coleman: Johns Hopkins University | Men’s Football | STEM Education
- Claire Curtsinger: University of Cincinnati | Women’s Cross Country | Youth and Community Initiative
- Ben Liscum: Penn State University | Men’s Football | Youth and Community Initiative
- Taylor O’Brien: UNC Wilmington | Women’s Football | Adaptive Sports and Inclusion
- Hannah Miller: Findlay University | Women’s Volleyball | Youth Sports Education
- Amalia Preece: Boston University | Hockey | Healthcare Visits and Equity
- Lucille Sugarman: Dupage College | Women’s Football | Community Hunger
- Will Ryan: University of Iowa | Men’s Off-Road | Pediatric Cancer Care
- Breana Thompson: University of Texas | Women’s Football | Homeless Rehabilitation and Advocacy
- Grace Van Niel: Ursuline College | Women’s Volleyball | Mental Health Awareness
Outstanding sports director, former athletes and industry leaders will choose the final 20-member team (10 female and 10 male student-athletes) to be announced on August 26. Expand all sports recognition
The Allstate NACDA Good Works team announced in December that 60 student-athletes are recognized each year in the fall, winter and spring, with more than 500 nominations in its first year. Winners include student-athletes including Penn State golfer Jami Morris Hit HopeCancer Research Fundraising and Auburn gymnast Sophia Groth, who supports student parents’ infant footsteps through nonprofit advocacy, are recognized as the team captain of their leadership and dedication.

The Allstate NACDA Good Works team was established in 2024 to recognize male and female student-athletes in all college athletics and departments for leadership in community service, academics and track and field. The legacy of Allstate AFCA GoodWorks®, which has been respecting college football players since 1992, has expanded initiative and highlighted the impact of student-athletes who go beyond the game to serve others.
