Shocking power to gain different perspectives

Since the start of Financial Warrior in 2009, I encourage people to keep an open mind and accept as many different perspectives as possible. So, usually, we set it up in our own way and think that our approach is the only right way to do things. But I can assure you that you may be missing something, or that you can do something better – which can significantly improve your wealth or quality of life.
A different point I’ve shared recently is that the richest people in the world are not fanatics of index funds. I think this view is important because it can help wealth builders expand their minds to what they can. Yes, the simplicity is for sale because it’s easy. However, if you want to get rid of your herd, you have to take a more calculated risk.
Another point I offer is to emphasize the value of paying someone to manage your money. I try to minimize the cost. But after a year of managing a relative’s portfolio, I definitely understand why the fees are reasonable. Manage money for others Incredible Very stressed. I will never do it for free again.
In another post, I discuss how cultural differences hinder your chances of success in the workplace. If you are part of most people, you don’t have to spend so much energy to assimilate or “suck” to adapt and be liked. You just expect others to match you.
The latest shocking views shocked me
While visiting my parents in Honolulu, I came upstairs and found my father looking at Wimbledon on his lounge chair. I glanced at the TV, which showed Jannik Sinner vs. Grigor Dimitrov and asked immediately, “What’s wrong?”
“What’s wrong?” he replied.
“Your TV,” I said. “This is very vague!”
“I don’t know.” He shrugged. “Nothing wrong – except that it sometimes appears on the top.”
“What do you mean is not wrong? This is completely vague!” I said.
“Oh, really? I thought I could never see clearly anymore,” he replied.
He had cataract surgery a few years ago, which improved his vision. But he thinks maybe it’s falling again.
What my parents think is a fuzzy 55-inch TV is normal
for One and a half yearsMy parents have been watching this blurry TV and blamed their vision instead of questioning the product. Zoom in tightly: The name and score of “Sinner” are relatively clear in the upper left corner, but his image is blurry. Worse, the bottom right corner (showing the name and score of another match) is almost unreadable.
Watching tennis, there is a small ball on the screen that will drive me crazy. I fiddled with the antenna just in case, but no improvements were made. I browsed multiple channels on WiFi, same problem.
After only three minutes, it was obvious: the TV failed and they needed a new one. I can’t believe they’ve been with it for so long them It’s the problem, not the screen. I’ve seen this work in marriage, but nothing as simple as TV!
New TV with new perspectives
While I’m already buying a new washer for couples, dryers and refrigerators, I think I can replace the old TV as well. I haven’t bought a TV in eight years and the cheap price has dropped. I only cost $650 and I gave them a 65-inch Samsung to remove the old ones, the new ones and all their app settings. It’s $485, no delivery and additional service.
When the installer arrived, they immediately confirmed the problem – the inverter was broken. Honestly, this is a relief. Part of me started to question mine My own Vision, worry that things still look blurry even with new TV.
The new TV has much better clarity. Given that my parents watch TV for several hours a day, I think this is the biggest improvement in the quality of life I have given them this trip. The second is to repair drip on the kitchen ceiling Three yearsWoolen cloth
But the real victory is more than just a clearer picture, it is helping my parents realize that their vision is not deteriorating at a rapid rate. I think it is inevitable that we can accept that physical decline is too fast as we get older. We no longer question things and make discomfort “older”.
This new TV not only restores visual clarity, but also helps to restore confidence.

Please have a different view on your finances
I hope this story shows that literally having a fresh eye can greatly improve your life. We usually let inertia push us in the same direction, assuming that what we do must be good. And if we optimize our finances and lifestyle, that would be great. But if we haven’t, the hidden costs can really make us wonder where all the money goes in 10 years.
I spent five years underperforming in my son’s 529 program, and then I finally moved my larger asset allocation to the S&P 500. In the 18-year time frame, for him, he had no point in getting a target date fund with a large amount of bond allocations. This is not the way I invested my own money during this time, because my grade IRA has been 100% stock proof in stock since I left my job in 2012.
If only someone reviewed the portfolio with me in 2017 and talked through logic, his 529 is $100,000+Today. One hundred thousand dollars! ah. At the time, I thought I was doing all the right things. I think the situation is better than not contributing to the 529 plan.
When it comes to financial situations, look for different perspectives. Over time, you may be missing something that will lose a fortune of yours. Perhaps it is trapped in a high-level active fund that has surpassed its peak state. Maybe it’s choosing an expensive target date fund instead of a cheap indexed version. Or maybe just forgetting the idle cash in an old rollover IRA that you have never touched in years.
Don’t wait 1.5 years to see a vague financial situation before realizing something is wrong. A clearer perspective can make everything different.
