Will the stock market be open on Thanksgiving 2025?

Thanks to mobile apps and online brokerages, many investors are trading stocks every day. With access so easy, it’s easy to think that transactions happen 24/7. But the holidays can disrupt normal schedules. Since Thanksgiving 2025 is on Thursday, November 27, here’s what you need to know about market hours.

Will the stock market be open on Thanksgiving 2025?

Won’t. The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq will be closed for Thanksgiving on November 27, 2025.

There will be no trading activity during the holidays. Orders placed on Thanksgiving will not be executed until the market reopens. Trading will resume on Friday, November 28, 2025 (Black Friday), but the trading session will be shortened, closing at 1:00 PM ET.

How about the international market?

Since Thanksgiving is not an internationally recognized holiday, Forex trading usually remains open. Traders can still monitor global activity, but U.S. trades will not settle until domestic markets reopen.

Will bond markets be open on Thanksgiving 2025?

Won’t. U.S. bond markets are also closed on Thanksgiving Day.

On Black Friday, November 28, 2025, the bond market will operate on a shortened schedule, closing at 2:00 PM ET. These times generally follow the recommendations of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA).
