Queen’s Park public gallery cleared as protests over housing bill passed

Liam Casey

Security at Queen’s Park finally cleared the public gallery for the final vote on Bill 60.

Premier Doug Ford told the shouting crowd to “get a job.”

Members of tenant advocacy group ACORN Canada were kicked out after they chanted “people over profits” during the vote.

The group said the bill accelerates evictions and takes away tenants’ ability to defend themselves.

Housing Minister Rob Flack said the province is restoring balance to the landlord-tenant system and maintaining tenant protections.
