OxyContin’s $7.4 billion opioid deal approved

The lawsuit against Purdue is one of the most significant in a broader series of opioid lawsuits that have collectively resulted in about $50 billion in damages from drugmakers, wholesalers and pharmacies. Since 1999, opioids (including prescription drugs, heroin and fentanyl) have killed 900,000 people in the United States.
