Marsh & McLennan Agency sues Granite Insurance for stealing customers

MMA claims the impact was immediate and severe. On the same day as Tedder’s departure, MMA received a broker of record (BOR) notice from a long-time client indicating that the account would be transferred to Granite. MMA said that over the next few months it will begin to receive additional BOR from client accounts directly linked to Tedder, which will be transferred to the new broker of record, Granite. The complaint alleges that from late September 2024 to the present, MMA lost more than 21 customer accounts to Granite, and the loss of annual recurring revenue from these customer transfers exceeded $1 million. MMA alleges that Granite’s CEO, Cameron Annas, had a long-standing relationship with Tedder and recruited him with the intent of gaining access to MMA’s confidential business information and customer base.
