GEICO sues Florida clinic for $4.6 million in PIP fraud scheme

GEICO and its affiliates have filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division, against AJ Treatment Centers, Inc., its owner, Ramon Jimenez, and physician Jose Luis Cruz, MD. Plaintiffs allege that Defendants wrongfully obtained more than $4,600,000.00 from GEICO by submitting thousands of fraudulent and illegal no-fault (PIP) insurance claims. AJ Therapy. The complaint alleges that the charges related to medically unnecessary, illusory, illegal and non-reimbursable health care services and goods, including initial and follow-up exams, physical therapy, home medical equipment and related services, purportedly provided to Florida car accident victims who were eligible for coverage under the GEICO PIP insurance policy.
