Mortgage Strategy Run Club launches northern branch in Manchester – Mortgage Strategy

Following the successful launch of the Mortgage Strategy Run Club in London, Mortgage Strategy, in partnership with the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter (MIMHC), is proud to announce the launch of its Northern Chapter in Manchester.

The new chapter will be led by Matt Horton, Head of Marketing at Black & White Bridging, who shares the club’s belief that regular events, connections and open dialogue are vital to creating a healthier, more humane mortgage industry.

The first Northern Run will take place on Thursday 7 November 2025. Time: 12.30pm, meeting point is outside Oast House, Spinningfields, M3 3AY.

The quiet 5km route takes runners along the canal into Media City and back… followed by coffee and informal conversation.

As with the original London meetup, the format is simple and inclusive: no pressure, no pace – just a consistent space for people from across the industry to move, breathe and build real community, one step at a time, on the first Thursday of every month.

James Prosser, Commercial Director of Mortgage Strategy and founder of Mortgage Strategy Run Club, commented:

“That’s exactly what running clubs are about – providing consistent space for people across the industry to prioritize their own wellbeing, connect with others and recover from the rush. Expanding to Manchester means we can grow the sport in a truly inclusive way and I can’t think of a better person to lead it than Matt. The more we show up together, the stronger the industry will become.”

Matt Horton, head of marketing at Black & White, explains that he has seen first-hand how powerful something as simple as running and talking regularly can be for mental health and connection. “I’m proud to be bringing this initiative to Manchester, giving people in the north an opportunity to get away from the noise, get moving and feel part of something positive and supportive.”

Jason Berry, co-founder of the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter, said: “We created MIMHC to encourage a more open, supportive environment across the industry and running clubs are a perfect example of this. It’s not just about physical exercise, it’s about emotional motivation. The launch of the Northern Chapter is a brilliant step forward.”
