French Bread Pizza
This week’s dinner focuses around homemade French bread pizza and adds simple veggies and fruit to make it ready in 20 minutes (including cooking time!).
It’s a super easy, cheap meal, initially inspired by the reduced bakery van behind the Walmart store! Almost every time I was at Walmart, the cart was there and full. Every time I look for them, I can find bread for French bread for $0.50 to $0.79. I think most Walmarts have similar shopping carts. Even if you don’t, their French bread is cheap at normal prices and is an easy alternative to the pizza crust!

The pizza is very versatile, so sometimes I add leftover meat or chopped vegetables and need to be used up. I also mix cheese based on what’s on hand or what’s cheapest/offered that week. I used Colby Jack in this post because it’s sold on my Aldi. I also like to add fresh herbs as I try to grow in my home year round.

French Bread Pizza Recipe FAQ
By sprinkling bread with olive oil and gently toasting the bread before adding the pizza sauce, your bread will remain well and crispy.
Since the air fryer is compared to using an oven, you need to reduce the temperature and cooking time. Place the air fryer in 400 degrees and pre-mix the bread for 4 minutes before applying the sauce and other toppings. Then cook the assembled pizza for another 8 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbled.
