Allstate and AFCA announce good work team for 2025

Northbrook, Illinois, September 16, 2025 – Allstate and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) today announced the 2025 Allstate AFCA GoodWorks®®, honoring 22 college football players and a head coach in recognition of their extraordinary commitment to community service.

This year’s team is selected from a record 195 nominees submitted by the National University Athletic Information Director and Coach, focusing on purposeful student-athletes, from engaging with substance abuse to creating opportunities for youth and families.

University of Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables is an honorary coach this year, recognized for his transformation of his plans while driving service and leadership in the field.

Meet the 2025 ALLSTATE AFCA GOOD WARK TEL team

Selected by a voting team of former outstanding team members, head coaches and journalists, this year’s team includes:

  • 11 players in NCAA Football Bowl Segment (FBS)
  • 11 players from the NCAA Football Championship Segment (FCS), II, III and National Intercollege Athletic Association (NAIA)
  • 1 Honorary Head Coach: University of Oklahoma Brent Venables

  • Chandler Rivers, Duke University (CB): A summer camp for over 200 kids was held in Texas, integrating football with skills training and role building.
  • Michael Taaffe, University of Texas (DB): In honor of his friend Jake Ehlinger, he founded the “Taaffe’s Fentanyl Awareness Tackle” and turned all the tackles into a donation to Texas to fentanyl.
  • Terian Williams II of Bucknell University (DB): Founded the It Occupy Country Family Foundation, which helps families in Atlanta, including Father’s Day events that provide dad with free shoes, shirts and meals to experience homelessness.
  • Nolan Ulm, Eastern Washington University (WR): Through mom, $23,000 was raised for single mothers, contributing more than 100 volunteer hours a year.

Allstate Wuerffel Trophy and Excellent Team Captain

The following year, Allstate worked with the Wuerffel Foundation to unify the most meaningful community service honors of college football: the Allstate AFCA Good Works team and the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy.

Fans can vote on ESPN.com/allstate by November 10 as one of the 11 FBS winners who will be named the 2025 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Recipient and serve as the Good Works team captain, recognizing their leadership, performance, and impacting the field.

Danny Wuerffel, former NFL quarterback, Heisman Trophy winner, the same name character for the College Football Hall of Fame and the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy:

About Allstate AFCA Good Works Team

The Allstate AFCA Good Works team was founded in 1992 by the College Football Association, recognizing the additional effort made by college football players and student support staff off the field. The AFCA became the governing body of the award in 1997 and continues to pay tribute to college football players who have paid more miles for those in need. Allstate strives to present awards starting in the 2008 season.

Since its inception in 1992, the Southeast Conference (SEC) has led all meetings for all meetings with 91 choices on the Allstate AFCA Good Works team. Subsequently, the SEC held the Atlantic Coast Conference, held 58 trials and inter-school athletic conferences in Minnesota, and offered 45 options. Georgia first received 24 winners from the Allstate AFCA Good Works team. The Bulldogs were followed by Kentucky and Bethel (Minnesota), with 19 winners.
