Michigan bill requires insurance agents to accurately disclose who they represent

If enacted, the bill would require the insurer’s agent not to sell, solicit or negotiate an insurance application, unless the agent discloses it to the insured or potential insured person on a form published by the director, which is the representative of the insurer. Similarly, the insured’s agent must disclose on a form issued by the same director that the agent is the representative of the insured before the sale, recruitment or negotiation of the insurance application.
