Hannie & Co – Director of Mortgage Loans for Mortgage Strategy Hannie Mason

Describe your company in some sentences.

Hannie & Co Mortgage is a direct authorized company that provides an emerging approach to mortgage lending.

We work with buyers, landlords and investors to secure property with clarity and confidence, while making the process less like a headache and more like a victory. We are proud to be approachable, proactive and authentic.

Our mission is to change the face of the mortgage industry: less terminology, more joy, always tailor-made support. We really care about the people behind paperwork and think mortgage advice should be authorized, not overwhelming.

I actively guide and encourage new consultants, aiming to make the industry more accessible and appealing

It’s about the house, not the mortgage, and helping the client move forward with confidence.

What prompted you to become an agent?

My career started at a high street bank and spent most of my time underwriting. The knowledge behind the scenes gave me a deep understanding of how mortgages really work.

I realized that I could use this experience to help someone on the other side, not only approve mortgages, but also guide clients throughout the journey.

I absolutely love helping people achieve what they think is out of reach. It is extremely beneficial to support someone to enter their first home or invest, especially when they never imagined it was possible.

We need the image of a modern industry. Not just suits and spreadsheets; it’s about people, purposes and opportunities

This personal impact is what really drives me every day.

What plans do you have for the company’s future?

We are a fast-growing broker; in less than four years, we have been a strong team of six people.

I’m passionate about bringing fresh talent into the world of mortgages; it’s an industry that desperately needs new energy, diversity and perspectives. I actively coach and encourage new consultants, aiming to make the industry more accessible and appealing to the next generation.

Clear, consistent and timely communication will change the broker’s experience and bring better results to clients

I am also a huge supporter of financial education, making mortgage advice more humane. As the recently appointed Board Director of the Association of Mortgage Professionals at the Chartered Insurance Institute, I am committed to driving practical change, increasing standards, raising awareness and making mortgages easier to understand, inclusive and empowering.

The future is influence, innovation and opening more doors for more people.

What can lenders do to improve the life of their brokers?

In one word: communication. Clear, consistent and timely communication will change the broker’s experience and bring better results to clients.

I’m passionate about bringing fresh talent into the world of mortgage loans

We all work towards the same goal, but delays, unclear standards or last-minute surprises can bring unnecessary stress. A more collaborative approach where brokers and lenders feel like they are real partners, can make a huge difference.

Good communication is more than just efficiency. It’s about trusting, serving and keeping customers where they need it, faster and less friction.

What advice do you have for a broker who is just starting out?

This is not an overnight success. Building a solid reputation, customer base and confidence takes time, so stay patient and lasting.

We believe mortgage advice should be authorized, not overwhelming

Be with the right people; there will be more energy, support and experience around you than you realize. Stay curious, keep learning and trusting your intuition.

There will be challenges, but there will be a lot of rewards in helping people change their lives. Keep coming, stay true to your values and know that growth will be progressively progressively on client-side.

How does the industry encourage new brokers to intake?

We need to make the industry more obvious, easier to obtain, and more attractive to fresh talent. It starts with better education and promotion, especially for young people who don’t even know it’s a career path.

Our mission is to change the face of the mortgage industry: less terminology, more joy, always tailor-made support

We also need the image of a modern industry. Not just suits and spreadsheets; it’s about people, goals and opportunities.
