Have you received benefits from a child entitled to?

To help parents make ends meet, the federal government provides Canadian Child Welfare (CCB). If you have a child under 18 and file a tax return, you will be automatically registered. The Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) manages monthly payments that are exempt from taxes.
The provincial government provides additional financial support for low- to middle-income households. But the amount of income, income threshold, eligibility and payment date may vary from province to province and territory. Children’s welfare in provinces other than Quebec is managed by the CRA on behalf of each province and region. The Quebec government independently manages its family allowance program.
All provincial child welfare programs are conducted from July to June of the next calendar year.

What is the provincial child payment amount in June 2025?
The child benefits amount is based on your adjusted net household income, which is your net household income (calculated by adding your net income and the net income of your spouse or common law partner) minus any universal child care benefits (UCCB) and registered disability savings plan (RDSP) income.
The amount of payment benefits and income thresholds vary in each province and region. In fact, the income threshold is one of the indicators that determine the program’s eligibility. Some other requirements include whether you live in the province, have children under the age of 18 and how many, and whether you file a tax return.
When will provincial payment be issued?
For British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Prince Edward Island, provincial benefits amounts are combined with Canadian child benefits once a month.
Child benefits in Manitoba are paid monthly. In Alberta, quarterly payment amounts will be issued in August, November, February and May.
In Quebec, quarterly amounts will be issued in July, October, January and April.
