Landry explained that the new legislation aims to re-engineer what he calls “cultural issues of trivial litigation,” partly driven by lawyer advertising. He noted that while Louisiana’s car accident rates and repair costs are consistent with the national average, the state considers disproportionate claims of minor injuries to be the national average.
