Peek at our house in February

Welcome to my monthly post, I shared a peep at our home last month! This is a little in February…
I flew to Kansas near early February to help my parents help them with their Valentine’s Day party for churches and communities every year. It was such a special preparation and then a fun and memorable evening to help the banquet!

To read all about the banquet and all the details, check out the in-depth post I did above.

Beautiful Kansas sunset!

I was really sick in the middle of the night when I was supposed to fly home. We were able to switch flights to earlier flights, and I took the extra power of Tylenol, wearing a mask and trying to stay away from the people in the flight. It was great to go home – Sure enough, I tested positive for Flu A.
I ended up getting sick in bed for the rest of the week. Thank you so much, this is a week where I can cancel everything and take a break!
Jesse and I recorded a podcast that played my trip and illness, and his trip to Crossfit bootcamp + details about habits that have made an impact in our homes. Listen here.

I did a lot of cooking and baking in February, including making these simple protein breakfast muffins!

It snowed again, and the kids had two snowed! (Yes, if you live north, please laugh, this is canceling the snow count in schools in our area!)

I shared a story on Instagram about why I don’t have a better wedding ring and how much I love simple rings. Read the details behind my wedding ring here.

I wrote this on Instagram in February:
Both of our young children have been working hard over the past few days. They seem uneasy. More crying and arguing than usual.
I let them go to bed very early last night because I thought they were tired. But they had a good night’s sleep and still woke up seemed frustrated and irritable.
Honestly, I was tired and bored with the bad attitude and all the extra corrections and time needed. (I know it’s an important part of the mother, but just keeping it real is that sometimes, disciples get tired over and over!)
As I washed my face this morning and was about to start the day, Kierstyn came to ask if she could fix my hair. To be honest, I wanted to stop for a few minutes and sit down and let her put the bow on my hair, but then hit me again:
I got sick last week and then this week I had a lot of extra work and time-sensitive projects to catch up. As a result, the child did not get my one-on-one time and attention. I bet that most of their behavior is actually a cry that draws attention.
At that time, I stopped working and sat down and was excited about her fixing her hair. Then she asked if I could put a bow on my hair and jewelry. Then, Kierstyn, Micah and I had a dance party.
you! It was crazy, just stopping to step into their world seemed to completely calm their minds and turn their attitude around.
I preached the importance of stepping into our children’s world and caring about the things they care about, but throughout the whole week I forgot my advice.
The little kids just cried like me, like they knew how.
It reminded me of this sentence: “Don’t water the withering flowers.”
Who needs extra attention, kindness and today’s “watering”?

This photo represents many prayers here.
You see almost every day since our biggest Kathrynne is a baby and we pray that she knows and loves Jesus with all her heart. We pray that she will live a life that glorifies the Lord. We pray that she has friends who love Jesus and point her to the Lord.
When she was studying possible colleges two years ago, we prayed for clear directions and let her find a community of believers, wherever she went to school.
When she decided to use MTSU, she didn’t know where a freshman girl went, only a few others who had been there. She and I went to welcome before school started and we looked for any campus department she might be able to plug into. The Baptist University Department (BCM) had a table and they warmly welcomed us and we ended up talking to them for nearly 30 minutes!
They invited her to the welcome week event, and she bravely showed up for the first night, not knowing that no one was there. She came home from the event and was very excited about the people she met… She kept looking back!
BCM has become an important part of her college experience and in February we have to attend a banquet held by BCM students.
Everyone…this is the most beautiful thing!
Watching college students talk about their passion for the gospel and view their secular campus as their field of mission, seeing them passionately leading worship and singing, together giving God’s kindness, witnessing them volunteering with this joyful voluntary service, seeing Kathrynne on stage, mastering the activity on stage (that’s her women in the cream pant and Greatateater), and meeting her for many months, and admiring her in many people, she has become many people, and she has become many people, and she has become many people.
I am very grateful to many for answering her prayers, and for the next generation of young people and their hearts to be fired for the Lord!
Mom, keep praying for your children. Continuously delegate them to the Lord. Continue to point them to Jesus and encourage them not to settle down. God’s answer may be very different to your child from my answer to me, but He will answer faithfully!

A huge highlight of February was going on a client vacation with my business coach Alli Worthington and some of their clients. Alli has been playing a big role in my life and business since I started coaching with her and I’m so happy to see how God has helped me on this vacation.

Just said, I was not disappointed at all! Not only did we laugh so hard, but we had fun (it was so good for my soul!), but I also had to learn a lot from other smart women.

Alli structured the activities so there was a lot of fun things to do, but there was also a lot of time to coach and coach. I got home, very clear, and was inspired to lead a lot of inspiration for a better way to lead my company.

I am very grateful for the answer to prayer, Ellie has been in my life! And because she persistently encouraged me to come to the client vacation. I’ve shared more information on this podcast about the amazing lessons I’ve learned at Disney (who knows a Disney trip will be a touching experience?)

These two are currently in exactly the same size as they are becoming quick friends. Micah is David’s protector, and David keeps watching and learning from Micah.

If you don’t see it, be sure to read my story about the very cool things that happened in the park in February, David and another little boy with Down syndrome.

And, if you need a smile today, be sure to watch this short video on what Jesse did when she came home a few days after going in February.

Also, be sure to listen to this episode I recorded with Trillia Newbell to celebrate Black history throughout the year.

Also, to resist the disease, we started taking these elderberry in February (only $12.96 per bottle!).
