Housing Commission member Mike Amesbury has been sentenced to 10 weeks in jail after admitting to beating a man in his Cheshire constituency and being kicked out of Labor.

His near future in the House of Commons remains under question as his attorneys say he will appeal the judgment.

The process cannot begin until after his appeal period is over.
Amesbury won his seat in the July general election, mostly at 14,696.
He has served as a Labor Congress member since 2017 and served as Shadow Minister between 2018 and 2024. He previously served as a local MP in Manchester.
