Commerzbank appoints McDonald to head intermediary business – mortgage strategy

Commerzbank has appointed Steve McDonald as national head of intermediary operations.
McDonald has been with the bank for 12 years and has spent the past two years developing his own advice to mortgage brokers.
Prior to that, he worked for NatWest Bank for 23 years, holding management roles in a variety of areas, leaving in 2005 to start a commercial finance brokerage.
In his new role, Macdonald will be responsible for overseeing the bank’s expansion of engagement with residential and commercial mortgage intermediaries across the UK.
McDonald said: “Handelsbanken has been successfully working with intermediaries for many years, but we have decided to develop this further and make it a key part of our offering. After spending the past two years developing our strategy, I am delighted to now have the opportunity to Roll out the strategy nationwide.
“In my new role, I plan to focus even more on the importance of the broker channel in delivering our ambitious growth targets, as well as supporting our branch network externally to enhance the profile of our intermediary proposition in their local areas.”
