I recently surveyed my IG followers to find out about common items people might forget to budget for. They came up with a bunch of great ideas!

health care

  1. insurance deductible
  2. prescription
  3. haircut
  4. Vitamins and supplements
  5. Pet medications and veterinary visits
  6. Dental and orthodontic work (which can be really tiring for a bunch of kids!)
  7. Household medical supplies (bandages, gauze, over-the-counter medications)

vehicle

  1. Unscheduled maintenance (new brakes, rotors, air conditioners, etc.)
  2. Change oil
  3. new tires
  4. car inspection
  5. tax
  6. License and registration fees
  7. car wash membership
  8. Saving money for a new car

children and families

  4. Sports fees and equipment
  5. Music lessons and instruments

Wow – that’s a lot!

But don’t panic! You most likely won’t include all of these in your budget because everyone’s budget looks different depending on life circumstances, priorities, and goals. I just encourage you Clarify your financial goals and then Create a simple budget Track everything. Once you’ve set your budget, go through this list to make sure you haven’t forgotten anything important to you!
